If you are wagering at the blackjack table then you need to do some studying beforehand. Blackjack is not the kind of game you can jump right into and start winning at. This is a game that has grown in popularity because of its dual nature combining luck and skill at the tables. The games are games of luck because every gambling game is—you have to work with the cards you get and make the most of them. Still, a good blackjack gamer can work with those cards with finesse to eke out a win even if they don’t get exactly the opportune hands they want. If you are looking to start wagering at the games, here are some tips to follow to help you increase your chances of a win:
• Because the dealer at a blackjack table has to hit on any hand of sixteen or less, you can’t win with lower than a seventeen-value hand, unless the dealer ends up busting. This means that you should stand on any hand that values out above eleven when the dealer has a six, five or four cards. This is a configuration where the dealer most likely will bust just over forty-percent of the time spent at the table. With odds like that you want to take them. Remember that in the game of blackjack the odds are always in favor of the House, so when you can get to a good percentage of a win, take it without question.
• If you have two of the same cards, then splitting is going to be an option. You never want to split tens though. Think about it- that gives you an automatic total of twenty right off the bat! That is an amazing hand that most likely is going to give you a win. If you split them, then you have two mediocre hands of ten each. Sure you could try, but you have no assurance that you are going to get anything better than the original combination. You also never want to split on fives or Face Cards. They are going to give you a great show at winning and you don’t want to give that up. Remember that the old adage “One in the hand is worth two in the bush” holds true even in blackjack gaming.
