Don’t Make the Wrong Moves at the Blackjack Table

In the world of blackjack there are plenty of do’s and don’ts to work with. The games are varied and you can slowly work on your own skills as you wager. When you are playing, you want to make sure that you aren’t doing the wrong things or gaining the bad habits that are going to hold you back. One bad move is for gamblers to mirror what the dealer does. A lot of newer gamblers aren’t quite sure what to do when they are wagering at the table. They watch the dealer because they don’t have their own confident moves just yet. But how valuable is emulating the dealer really? The honest truth is that wagering by following the dealer is never a good move. First of all, you have to realize that a dealer at the blackjack table is not necessarily a pro. Sure they know how to direct the games and work with the players, but they aren’t always experts at the actual game. They could be still teaching themselves what to do in various situations. The last thing you want to do is follow bad moves because the dealer may make a misstep, but you are going to lose the money. You want to make sure that you aren’t falling into a trap of mirroring the dealer when he or she isn’t good enough a player to follow.

The other issue with following the dealer’s move is that the dealer’s purpose in the game is completely different. The dealer has to work with the casino’s rules. He had to stand on a seventeen or more and hit automatically on a sixteen or less. This isn’t a judgment call for him or her—it is the rule that the casino came up with and he has to follow it. The goal of the rules of course are to make it that much more viable for the casino to walk away with your money. Once you understand the purpose of the dealer, you can easily see how following his or her moves are not going to work for you. Make sure you give yourself enough time to learn the skills you need and then make it a habit of using the tools are going to work for you.
