The other thing about slots and blackjack is that they both have different payout percentages. The perception is that any game that is manned by a dealer, is somehow more inclined to benefit the casino in the long haul. People consider dealers to be on the “side” of the casino and therefore possibly swayed in their actions to help the casino win, rather than the gamer. Of course this isn’t true. The cards coming out of the shoe can’t be controlled though and the randomness of the cards can’t be debated. Still, the public perception in gambling is everything. On the other hand, there are the slots where a player works with the machine alone. There is no other outside element to work with or to possibly sway the game in the mind of the gambler. They know that they are the only ones influencing the games. Add to that how affordable slots are and it means that more people are venturing to the slots and supporting the slots parlors than are going to the blackjack tables. Casino operators are taking notice of this too. They are quick to filter out games that aren’t performing and bring in more games that are. The casino is a business and just like any business it is looking to increase profitable products and scale back on the ones that are underperforming.
Though this is a sad turn of events that blackjack seems to be slowing down, don’t give up on the game just yet. There could be a revival coming once people are more stable in their revenue streams and have more built up funds. They could once again return to a great game that offers them a great gaming experience to boot. Most likely once people do fully return to their older bankroll limits and are more financially stable post-recession they are going to be able to once again start wagering on games that are considered and perceived to be more “risky.” This is where the game of blackjack could once again reach its former level of popularity and even move well beyond it. The blackjack game is a fulfilling one and maybe it just needs some time to revive and come back stronger than ever.
